A deck built square, solid underfoot and sized to how you use your yard. The 12x12 is the one we build most, and it usually takes 1 to 2 days.

Our own jobs: a covered porch with a wide stained stair, and a new privacy fence with a flagstone path.
Any size is a quote away, but these are the sizes and shapes homeowners ask about most, and what each one usually fits on a West Georgia lot.
A good deck starts with how you will use the yard, not with a size off a list. Where the grill goes, how many people sit down to eat and where the afternoon sun lands all decide the shape before we talk about boards.
Then the house and the ground have their say, because the height of the back door sets how high the deck sits and how many stairs it needs, and a lot that slopes away, like so many in Carrollton and Villa Rica, can turn a simple deck into a tall one or a two-level one. The 12x12 is a good place to start the conversation, and we size it up or down from there.
A 12x12 deck usually goes from bare ground to a finished rail in 1 to 2 days, and here is the order the work usually goes in on a West Georgia yard.
The deck is marked out on the ground and the post holes dug, then footings go in so the posts sit on something solid instead of on soft clay.
Posts and beams carry the outer edge and the ledger board ties the deck to the house, and that joint with the house is the one that matters most.
Joists run between the beam and the ledger, then the deck boards go down across them with a gap so rain drains through and the wood can dry.
Rails go up at the right height and the stairs are built to the yard, then we walk the finished deck with you before we pack up.
A bigger deck, a second level or a tall one on a slope adds time, and we tell you how much at the quote.
The quote is free and in person, and it covers the whole deck. We look at the yard, the ground and the spot on the house where the deck ties on before we give you a number.
Same day or next day, at your house. Takes a minute.

We look at your yard and how you use it, then tell you what fits. Every deck we build sits on a pressure-treated frame, and the choice is mostly about what goes on top.

This is a long pressure-treated deck that runs the length of the back of a two-story home in Carrollton, built by the same people who quoted it. The photo was taken the day we finished, with the boards down, the rail up and the yard cleaned.
A deck this long means more footings and a straighter frame, because any wander in the line shows over the full run. The wire-panel rail keeps the view open and still feels solid when you lean on it, which is the first thing most people test.
Two decks with the same footprint can be quoted quite differently, because what sits under and around them is different. These are the things that usually move the number, and we look at each one in your yard at the quote.
One price for the whole deck before any work starts, and nothing starts until you say yes.
More square feet means more boards, more joists and more footings under them. A wraparound or a deck with angled corners also takes more cutting and more time than a plain rectangle.
A deck a step off the ground is simple to frame. A deck at second-floor height needs taller posts, more bracing and a longer stair, and it takes longer to build safely.
Every set of stairs and every foot of rail adds to the job. A low deck may need no rail at all, while a high one needs rail all the way around.
Pressure-treated pine, composite and cedar each sit at a different place on the scale. The frame underneath is pressure-treated either way, so the choice is about what you walk on.
A sloped yard or wet red clay can mean deeper footings or a second level. Building it ready for a roof later means heavier posts now, which is worth planning for if you want one.

Decks and porches across West Georgia
Most yards around Carrollton, Villa Rica and Bremen are red clay, and clay holds water after a rain and moves as it wets and dries. That is why a deck here starts with what is under the posts, not with the boards on top.
Plenty of lots in Douglasville, Temple and around the lakes slope down toward the back or the water, so the back door can be a full story above the yard. Those decks need taller posts and a longer stair, and sometimes a second level that steps down the hill.
Clay stays wet for days after a summer storm and softens around anything set in it. Footings that sit on firm ground keep the posts from settling over the years.
A yard that falls away makes a deck taller at one end than the other. We look at the grade with you before anyone draws the shape of the deck.
The office that handles a deck permit usually depends on where the lot sits. A house inside city limits and one out in the county can follow different rules.

Yes. Plenty of homeowners start with a deck and add a roof over it later. Tell us at the quote, and we plan the posts and the tie-in to the house with that roof in mind.
A 12x12 deck usually takes 1 to 2 days from the first post hole to the last rail. A bigger deck, a second level or a roof over it adds time, and we tell you how much at the quote.

Yes. We build covered porches, and we can often put a roof over a deck you already have. The deck frame has to carry the posts, so we check it before we say yes.
